Congratulations to an anonymous 34-year-old Londoner who exemplified everything that makes Britain what it is today when he attempted to swim the Atlantic as a tribute to the London Olympics:
The lifeguards called out a helicopter and a diver dropped into the sea and explained to the man that it was not a good idea to swim across the Atlantic and advised him to head back towards France.What a heartwarming tale, and what a can-do attitude. This man is clearly one to watch for the 2016 Olympics.
He replied that he was a strong swimmer and felt up to it.
